Trade Attache Archie Gomez Enjoins CommunityâÄôs Assistance for SAVE Act

Los Angeles-based Trade Attache Archimedes Gomez impressed the leaders of the Filipino Community of Hawaii with his ardent pitch for a community-based support for the twin bills HR 3039/ S 3170, the ‚ÄúSave our Industries Act or the¬† SAVE Act‚ÄĚ that are currently pending at the US Congress.

With valuable support and assistance from Deputy Consul General Paul Raymund Cortez,  Mr. Gomez met with community leaders for a presentation on the importance of the bills to the country’s textile and garments industry, particularly in generating employment and enhancing the country’s international image as producer of high-end quality garments and the critical role of the community to help pass the SAVE Act Bill.  US Senator Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) and Christopher Bond (R-Missouri) and Congressman Jum McDermott (D-Washington) and Brian Bilbray (R-California) are the proponents of the bills in the US Congress.   Community Leaders, Mr. Eddie Agas, Sr., Mr. Jun Colmenares,  Mr. Toy Arre, Ms. Benette Misalucha are among those that have pledged to gather support from the community to help in the successful passing of  the  SAVE Act Bill.

In his two day visit, Mr. Gomez also met  with the Filipino Chamber of Commerce, prospective trade investors, participated in the Hawaii Hotel, Lodging and Food Service Expo, and gave a full hour prime time interview with KPHI Radio.  END
